Mountain Dew ( English "mountain dew", originally an Irish euphemism for " black liquor ", also abbreviated: Mtn Dew ) is a lemonade from PepsiCo . It is available in Germany in the flavors “Mountain Dew” and “Mountain Dew Code Red”. In addition, there are other flavors and sugar-free light variants ( diet ) in the USA , some of which are only available for a short period of time.

Mountain Dew has a relatively high proportion of caffeine (approx. 54 mg per can, i.e. 155 mg / l) and contains 122 g of sugar per liter. Pepsi - Cola , on the other hand, contains 110 g sugar and approx. 100 mg caffeine per liter.

In the UK , Mountain Dew was available in a modified formulation in the early 1990s, but was withdrawn from the market by Pepsi UK. The reason given was that the sales figures were too low. The occasional rumor that Mountain Dew is banned in the UK because of its high caffeine content is incorrect. In mid-2010, the drink was initially brought back to the UK market in 0.5 liter bottles as Mountain Dew Energy with a major marketing campaign. At the beginning of 2011, the range was expanded to include 440 ml cans and 1 liter bottles.
