Dat Adam (also known as DFA or Hydra-Clique ) was a three-person German hip-hop / cloud rap formation. It consisted of the former YouTube artists Ardian Bora (Ardy), Daniel Tjarks (Taddl) and the music producer Marius Ley (Marley).

Band history

2014–2015: Beginnings and Chrome

Ardian Bora and Daniel Tjarks met Marius Ley in 2014 through their YouTube colleague Izzi. Tjarks and Ley worked together in the summer of 2014 on an EP called Motus , which entered the German album charts and produced two successful single hits .

After Bora and Tjarks had finished their YouTube careers, they founded "Dat Adam" with Marius Ley. The hydra was a symbol of the band, which was represented in Japanese katakana spelling (ハ イ ド ラ).

On April 24, 2015, the EP Chrome was released as a download. This release was preceded by the single Forrest a week before . The single was able to reach number five in the Austrian single charts. The EP Chrome entered the top 5 of all German-language album charts and even reached first place in Austria . In Austria all six titles of the EP were able to enter the single charts through individual downloads and streaming, in Germany four titles did so.

In addition, a CD limited to 2,000 copies was sold in their online shop, which in addition to the EP also contains the instrumentals and a cappellas of the individual songs.

Dat Adam performed live as a headliner at the Videodays 2015 in Berlin and at the Webvideopreis 2015 . In July 2015, the group first appeared as the opening act for Cro at the HipHop Open in Stuttgart . They later accompanied him on his entire tour as a pre-act.

2016–2017: Hydra 3D and two EPs

In June 2016 they performed at the Peace x Peace Festival in Berlin.

In October 2016, Tjarks announced on Twitter that their debut album Hydra 3D will be released that same month. The album was released on October 28, 2016 together with the single Hydra 3D . The video for the single was directed by Shawn Bu , who is among other things the director of Darth Maul: Apprentice . The album was released on their own independent label Hydra Music (which is under contract with grooveAttack ).

In November 2016 her first tour began under the name Space Camp. This started in Munich and ended in Dresden with the seventh performance. The Western Ghosts acted as the opening act for Dat Adam.

On March 24th, 2017 they released their second EP How to Flex & Troll a Scene . That was the starting signal for the second Space Camp 2017 tour, which took place from March 28 to April 20, 2017. Guests were again the Western Ghosts and NOK from the Future.

In June 2017 the band performed at the Rock am Ring and Rock im Park festivals .

On July 15, Tjarks released a snippet for the new album CY-BEAST lvl1 , which he produced with Ley and was not released under the name Dat Adam. There are 13 songs on the album, 3 of them in collaboration with Sierra Kidd and the Western Ghosts . It was released on September 29, 2017.

Dat Adam announced the release of their third EP Cyber ​​Rock in the form of a video on December 18, 2017 . This was published on December 29th of the same year and contained five previously published titles, which were, however , newly recorded in a different self-created genre, the so-called Cyber ​​Rock . To release the EP, the group uploaded the music video to DFA (CR version) .

2018: newWAVE and dissolution

On April 23, 2018, a new album was announced on social networks with the words "new album this summer". The completion announced on July 26th, 2018. The preliminary track listing was posted on Twitter on August 1st. In addition, Bora announced that this will be his last Dat Adam project as he wants to focus on solo projects.

On September 16, 2018, the release date of the new album newWAVE for September 21 was announced together with the single WACH (OST) . The song was also the title song of the film " Wach " by Kim Frank , which was broadcast for the first time on September 17, 2018 on ZDF . At the same time, the group announced that the album would be Dat Adam's last project in general and that Tjarks and Ley would also like to focus on their solo careers.
