Sriracha sauce (ศรีราชาpronunciation ? / I ) is a hot chili sauce named after the coastal town of Si Racha in Thailand . It was first produced there and used in local seafood restaurants. The sauce is made from chili peppers , vinegar , garlic , sugar and table salt . A conventional Sriracha sauce has a heat of 2,500–5,000 Scoville. Audio file / audio sample

Production and taste

The taste of the Sriracha sauce is mainly dominated by the main ingredient chili peppers. The other ingredients contribute to a sharp, sweet and spicy taste. They are now available in several flavors and degrees of spiciness.

Sriracha sauces have spread in many Asian countries and also in the United States . The three largest manufacturers of Sriracha sauce include the brands Flying Goose, Huy Fong Foods from California and the Sriraja Panich sauce from Thailand.

Frequent use

The sauce is often used as a dip , especially for seafood . Due to the versatile uses as a hot sauce, the Sriracha sauce appears in various kitchens, for example as a spice in Asian soups or instead of ketchup with French fries . A mixture of sriracha sauce and mayonnaise is also popular to make a sriracha mayo.
