Srontgorrth: The power sensed that my fear as the blood of the other is the second music album of the German extreme metal - band Nagelfar , published 1999th It is a concept album with the theme of the four seasons. The intro - riff of the first song is taken up again in subsequent pieces several times. The first three pieces appeared on the first two demos and the first album of the band. The fourth piece was recorded without any guitars. Like the previous album, the album was recorded in Stage One Studio .

The band does not see Srontgorrth as their second album, but rather the follow-up work Virus West .

While the album was being recorded, singer Jander left the band due to internal problems. It was replaced in autumn 1999 by Zingultus (later at Graupel and Endstille ). Around the same time as the album was released, the new bassist Chaos joined the band.

style

Nagelfar play very varied Extreme Metal on this album , which is based on Black Metal , but cannot be assigned to this due to the lack of satanic subject matter. In contrast to the previous album, more keyboards and electronic passages were incorporated, so in the fourth track only synthesizers and drums are used. Otherwise fast passages with blast beats and high tempo alternate with quieter and more atmospheric passages.

The lyrics come from the former bass player Sveinn Hackelnberg. He bequeathed the lyrical concept of Srontgorrth to the band when he left. It is about the warrior Srontgorrth, who after breaking out of a prison unconsciously strives to learn his past, understand the present and look to the future. The recurring reviews are musically illustrated.

reception

The album was mostly positively received. Metal.de awarded 9 out of 10 points, with the comment that the synthesizer experiments did not have to be and that they damage the overall concept. Metal1.info awarded 7.5 out of 10 points with the statement that the album was not for conservative Black Metal fans and that the previous work was much stronger. The increased use of synthesizers is also criticized. Vampster's Fierce thinks this is a good and interesting idea, but also warns that conservative supporters may be scared. The rock-hard magazine put the album on the list of "250 Black Metal Albums You Should Know".
