Stéphane Leduc

Stéphane Armand Nicolas Leduc (born November 1, 1853 in Nantes , † March 8, 1939 there ) was a French biologist . He was a professor at the medical faculty in Nantes and was a pioneer in synthetic biology in the early 20th century .

He undertook chemical experiments in the manner of complex chemical gardens , formed by familiar mechanisms of physics and chemistry such as osmosis and diffusion , and believed that he could reproduce typical aspects of living beings.

He was an officer in the Legion of Honor .
