The Roman Catholic church of St-Brice in Ay , a French parish in the Marne department , was built in the 15th century and has been a listed monument since 1942 .

history

The Gothic church was built in the 15th century instead of a former church. It is subordinate to the patronage of Brictius of Tours . The main tower was built around 1550 and the helm was added later.

After fire damage at the end of the 16th century, the building was fortified with closed arcades and four high retaining walls. In 1843 the ceilings of the aisles were reconstructed to their current height, the paintwork was scraped off and the chapel dedicated to the Blessed Virgin was restored. The ship's ceiling was restored in 1890.

During a restoration from 1867, the apse received new windows. In addition, a new altar was installed in 1869 and six new windows were added to the ship.

On August 9, 1942, the church was placed under monument protection as a classified Monument historique .

Every year in May there is a music festival in the church of St-Brice.
