St-Jacques de Lambour is a ruined church in Pont-l'Abbé ( Finistère department ) in Brittany . The ruin has been classified as a monument historique since 1896 .

history

The construction of St-Jacques de Lambour began in the 13th century. The construction period continued until the 16th century, when the church was completed with elements of Flamboyant Gothic for the inhabitants of Lambour, now a suburb of Pont-l'Abbé. St-Jacques was built as a three-aisled church on the plan of a dew-cross , with the north transept being wider than the south.

The church belonged to the group of Breton churches whose steeple was removed after the revolt against the paper tax in 1675 by order of Louis XIV . After the French Revolution, the building fell into disrepair and was finally abandoned by decision of the Pont-l'Abbé City Council. The inventory was transferred to the Notre-Dame-des-Carmes church.
