The church of St-Maclou in Mantes-la-Jolie , a French town in the Yvelines department in the Île-de-France region , was built in 11/12. Century erected. The tower of the former church has been protected as a monument historique since 1908 .

history

The parish church consecrated to Saint Machutus was a Romanesque church building that was destroyed in 1087 by the troops of William the Conqueror . In the 16./17. In the 19th century, the building was rebuilt in the Renaissance style . During the revolution , the church building was abandoned and eventually came into private ownership. The church was demolished at the beginning of the 19th century. Only the tower that was bought by the city of Mantes-la-Jolie remained.

The last renovations of the tower, which was damaged during World War II , took place in the 1980s .
