description

building

The hall church was built from rubble stones. The west tower, which was formerly open to the ship, and the walls surrounding the ship come from a previous building from the 12th or early 13th century. The round-arched sound openings on the tower are from a renovation around 1824. In the southern part of the nave there was a now-added pointed arch portal, in the northern part there are pointed-arched windows. The rectangular choir flanked by baroque additions is late Gothic, the tracery of the windows has been broken out.

Interior and equipment

In the separate choir of the church there is a wooden pulpit altar with a display wall flanked by pilasters and side passages, which probably dates from the middle of the 18th century. An ogival sacraments niche is in the east wall of the choir. The sandstone baptism of the church has an octagonal cup. The original furnishings included a carved altar now in the Wallhausen church and a larger-than-life late Gothic wooden crucifix, which can be seen in the castle museum in Allstedt.
