Brücken-Hackpfüffel is a municipality in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz in the south-west of Saxony-Anhalt .
geography
The community is located northeast of the Kyffhäuser Mountains in the Golden Aue . The district town of Sangerhausen is only eight kilometers from the Brücken district. The municipality of Brücken-Hackpfüffel extends from the Unstrut tributary Helme in the north to the border with Thuringia in the south.
Brücken-Hackpfüffel is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Wallhausen in the north and east, Bad Frankenhausen / Kyffhäuser in the south and Kelbra (Kyffhäuser) in the west.

The former communities of Brücken (Helme) and Hackpfüffel form the two districts of the community.
history
The community was created in the course of the regional reform in Saxony-Anhalt on January 1, 2009 through a community merger from the former communities Brücken (Helme) and Hackpfüffel . On January 1, 2010 the administrative community Goldene Aue was converted into the Verbandsgemeinde Goldene Aue , the prerequisite for this was that all member communities have over 1000 inhabitants.
religion
21% of the population are Protestant, 1% Catholic. The St. Aegidius Church in Brücken and the St. Annen Church in Hackpfüffel belong to the bridges parish in the southern Harz region of the Evangelical-Lutheran church district Eisleben-Sömmerda of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany . The few Catholics are assigned to the parish of St. Jutta (with the Herz-Jesu-Kirche as the main church) based in Sangerhausen , which belongs to the Merseburg deanery of the Magdeburg diocese .
politics
The mayoral election for the new municipality took place on November 9, 2008, in which 55% of the eligible voters of Brückens and Hackpfüffels took part. Michael Peckruhn was elected the first honorary mayor of the community. He was re-elected in October 2015.
