The association community Goldene Aue was established on January 1st, 2010 in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt . The forerunner of the Verbandsgemeinde was the administrative community Goldene Aue with the same member communities.
It is located on the helmets and partly in the eponymous Golden Aue . To the west of Kelbra is the Kelbra dam .

The coat of arms was approved by the district on February 17, 2010.
Blazon : "In gold above a blue corrugated shield base covered with two silver corrugated strips, a green linden branch with five (1: 2: 2) leaves."
The colors of the association are - derived from the coat of arms - green-yellow.

The flag is yellow - green (1: 1) striped and has the municipal coat of arms in the center - with vertical stripes in the longitudinal form and with horizontal stripes in the horizontal form.

In the north of the municipality, the federal motorway 38 runs with the Berga junction. In Berga and Wallhausen (Helme) there are train stations on the Halle – Hann railway line. Münden .
