history

The mill was first mentioned in 1529 when Anna Hansen, the miller's widow, earned interest from her mill under St. Johannßen ob der Brücke , which had two water wheels . The name refers to the Johanniskirche near and also outside the village . From 1603 to 1608 the miller Sebastian Schäfer is called. During his time and again between 1725 and 1728 there was a dispute with the stallion mill belonging to Botenheim about a weir. In 1799 Johann Friedrich Held Müller was at the Johannismühle. His descendants ran it until the cessation of milling in the late 20th century. In 1842 Karl Held was named as a miller, the mill still had two water wheels. In 1873 it is said that the mill has two grinding courses , an oil course and a hemp grater . It burned down in 1900. When it was rebuilt in 1902, it received a Phoenix turbine instead of the water wheel. In 1926 Gustav Held installed two Francis turbines . After the Second World War , the mill was expanded and received new equipment consisting of six roller mills , two plansifters and semolina cleaning and cleaning machines. The daily output was around 15 tons. After the death of the last miller, the grinding operation was stopped in 1991. In 2001 the property was owned by a building contractor.
