Architecture and history
The clinker brick building was erected in 1887 by W. Herrmann . The four and a half storey building is decorated in the neo-renaissance style. The eight-axis facade of the house is horizontally structured by strongly profiled cornices . There is rustication on the ground floor and drilled window frames on the upper floors. In front of the upper floors there is a flat side bay on each of the two outer axes. The fluted pilasters located there are executed in a Doric and Ionic order. There are triglyph friezes on the first and second floors . The mezzanine floor was later rebuilt.
Together with the neighboring house at St.-Michael-Straße 14 and houses 5 , 6 and 10 , it is one of the most striking examples of the Wilhelminian style development on the street. There is a special contrast to the smaller older buildings from the mid-19th century.
In the local register of monuments , the house is listed as a historical building under registration number 094 76651 .
