St. Nicholas Chapel (Hechthausen)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Catholic St. Nicholas Chapel in Hechthausen was the bishop on September 6, 1959 Heinrich Maria Janssen to St.. Nicholas consecrated. It was created by converting a former fire station and is located at Wischer Straße 5. Almost 30 years after its consecration, the interior was redesigned in connection with thorough repairs, as resolutions of the Second Vatican Council had to be taken into account on the one hand and the sacred furnishings of the first post-war period were very simple. The chapel also received a life-size bronze sculpture of St. Nicholas. Since September 1, 2010, the chapel has belonged to the parish of the Holy Spirit , based in Stade, previously it belonged to the St. Ansgar parish in Hemmoor-Warstade.

  1. The purple symbolizes the passion time . A large-scale cross shape commemorates the sufferings and death of Jesus Christ.
  2. Opposite, the transfigured body of Jesus Christ shines in golden yellow and white - as a sign of the resurrection - in the symbol of the sacrament of the altar .
  3. Green is the color of life and hope and is a reminder of the creation of the world.
  4. Finally, the swirling form remains in red. This sign means the blowing of the divine spirit. At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit swept over the people with a storm roar and initiated the great change, as described in the Acts of the Apostles .

Statues

Both the Pietá and St. Elisabeth are reproductions based on old models. The seven candles on the Stele of Mary characterize the Seven Sorrows of Mary. The carving of St. Elisabeth in the Gothic style is remarkable.
