St. Nicholas Chapel (Mönchengladbach)
The St. Nicholas Chapel At the Nikolauskapelle 48 is in the village of Piperlohof, Hardt district of Mönchengladbach ( North Rhine-Westphalia ) in the field markings . It was built in the first half of the 19th century. The chapel was entered under No. A 041 on June 2, 1987 in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach .
location
The free-standing St. Nikolaus Chapel in rural surroundings is not far from the Piperlohof on the street An der Nikolauskapelle, which is part of an old connection between Hardt and the Tillerhöfen in Viersen, on the corner of the Piperlohof street.
architecture
The brick building, plastered throughout, is largely unadorned. A colorless pedestal surrounds the whole chapel. The facade shows a deeply cut, pressed pointed arch with an entrance at the back. Above it, arranged in a semicircle, is an inscription painted on it: St. Nicholas, please for us . Under the gable a Chrismon . The long sides each show two semicircular windows; the chapel closes on three sides. The roof is tiled and has a roof turret with a bell on the rear point of attack . The core of the Nikolauskapelle probably dates from the 18th century.
