The Catholic Church of St. Vigil in Castelrotto , a market town in South Tyrol ( Italy ), is dedicated to St. Consecrated to Vigilius of Trento . It is hidden in a wooded canyon of the Frötschbach in the St. Vigil fraction .

history

The church was first mentioned in documents in 1353. It was destroyed by a rock fall and rebuilt in the 15th century with the help of the truce owners from Hauenstein and Salegg . A coat of arms of the Lords of Selva on the console to the right of the main altar indicates this.

In the 19th century the church was equipped with two new altars. The altar builders from 1872 are not known, the Pietà on the side altar on the right is signed by the sculptor Johann Andreas Moroder from Val Gardena . The interior also includes a crucifix from the 16th century and a stone statue of Vigilius.
