history
Church building
A church in Udelfangen was first mentioned in a document in 1227. The old Udelfangen church was demolished in 1885. In its place, a single-nave neo-Gothic church with a three-sided closed choir and roof turret was built according to plans by architect Reinhold Wirtz . During the Second World War, the church was badly damaged by artillery fire. This damage could only be repaired in 1954/1955. In addition, the church received a sacristy in 1955.
parish
Udelfangen had been an independent parish since at least 1330. However, this was dissolved on May 9, 1803. Since then, Udelfangen has been a subsidiary of the parish of St. Dionysius in Trierweiler.
Furnishing
In the church there is a neo-Gothic high altar with figures of St. Agritius of Trier (patron of the church) and St. Donatus (patron saint since 1840), as well as two neo-Gothic side altars each with a figure of the Heart of Mary and the Heart of Jesus.
