The St. Anna chapel was the Catholic chapel in Lenne , a municipality in the Holzminden district in Lower Saxony . It belonged to the parish of the Holy Heart of Jesus with its seat in Stadtoldendorf , in what was then the dean's office in Holzminden of the diocese of Hildesheim . The chapel was named after St. Anna and was located at Stadtoldendorfer Straße 20. Today, the Catholics in Lenne belong to the parish of Maria Königin , based in Bodenwerder , the nearest Catholic churches are around five kilometers away from the Holy Family in Eschershausen and St. Heart of Jesus in Stadtoldendorf.

history

In 1705 a Protestant half-timbered chapel was built in Lenne, previously the residents of Lenne went to the church in Wangelnstedt . After an increasing number of Catholics had settled in Lenne as a result of the Second World War , Catholic services were also held in the chapel. The number of Protestant residents had also increased in the post-war period, so that the chapel had become too small and a larger church had to be built. The newly built Evangelical St. Thomas Church was inaugurated on the 1st of Advent in 1968, so that from that year the Catholics were the sole users of the chapel. In 1970 the chapel , which is around 216 meters above sea level , was acquired by the diocese of Hildesheim. After the number of Catholic worshipers had become too small, the chapel was profaned and sold to private customers. In May 1997 the church inventory was removed, before the chapel had not been used for church services for some time. Then the chapel was converted into a residential building.
