The Protestant Chapel of St. Antonius is a listed church building in Stocklarn , a district of Welver in the Soest district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History and architecture

Stocklarn belonged to Oestinghausen until 1583 and is the last village in the Niederbörde to become Protestant. A wage institute kept the chapel independent.

In place of a presumed predecessor building, the half-timbered chapel with a choir closed on three sides was built in 1722 . The place around the chapel served as a cemetery until 1882. It is 6 m wide, 13.5 m long and measures 5 m in height to the interior ceiling. The gable roof turret from 1742 was restored in 1956, at the same time the four windows were inserted into the west side. The threshold was renewed and the half-timbered walls on the south and west sides were renovated using wooden nails and plastering according to the old construction. The mortuary timber-framed has been set 1964th In 1969 the chapel was covered with dark tiles, the roof turret was newly boarded and slated. The gallery in the interior was reinforced by a second wooden column.

Furnishing

  • The altarpiece was painted in the second half of the 17th century; it shows the representation of the Last Supper in the central circular image . It is flanked by the words of institution .
  • The hexagonal wooden pulpit is marked 1695 and there are biblical quotations in the panels.
  • The two sandstone tombstones were created in the 18th century.
  • The bell was cast in the 16th century.
