St. Antonius (Wiesdorf)
The St. Antonius Church is a Catholic church in the Wiesdorf district of Leverkusen . As a branch church, it is part of the parish Herz Jesu und St. Antonius.
history
The small, neo-Gothic brick hall church was built between 1661 and 1664 at a flood-proof location after the previous church was washed away by the floods in 1657. The tower was completed in 1666. Extensions to the Catholic church took place in 1872 and 1902. In 1953 the H-bell from the East Prussian sponsor community of Groß Rautenberg was installed.
The parish of Herz Jesu and St. Antonius Wiesdorf, together with the parishes of Christ König Küppersteg and St. Stephanus (Bürrig), has formed the Wiesdorf-Bürrig-Küppersteg parish association since 2002, and since autumn 2009 as a parish community with a joint parish council.
organ
The organ goes back to an instrument that was built at the beginning of the 19th century by the organ builder Wilhelm Schaeben (Cologne) for the Dompfarrkirche St. Maria im Pesch (Cologne) and was installed in St. Antonius in 1863. In 1976 the instrument was rebuilt. The slider chest instrument has 22 registers on two manuals and a pedal. The key actions are mechanical, the stop actions are electrical.
