The Catholic Chapel St. Antonius Eremit is a listed church building in Dormecke , a district of Eslohe in the Hochsauerlandkreis ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History and architecture

The small plastered hall with a three-sided end was built in the 17th century. The remarkable furnishings include a three-part renaissance altar shrine with rich carvings. It was created in the middle of the 16th century. The wooden Madonna enthroned in the central niche, clad in elegant folds, was carved in the first quarter of the 14th century. In 1973 it was exposed down to the wooden core and left exposed to wood. Only remnants of the original version are still preserved. In 2012/13, since the remains of paint did not allow any conclusions to be drawn about an earlier version, it was redrafted based on models from the time of creation. The wooden figure of St. James is from the end of the 15th century, that of St. Peter from the first half of the 16th century.
