Dormecke is a district of the community Eslohe in the North Rhine-Westphalian Hochsauerlandkreis . At the end of 2019, the place had 29 residents.

geography

The village is located about 4 km southwest of Eslohe in the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge nature park . Neighboring towns are Fehrenbracht , Kückelheim , Serkenrode , Ramscheid , Obermarpe and Niedermarpe . The nature reserve Dormecketal is located south of Dormecke.

history

Chapel of St. Anthony the Hermit

Until 1186 the villages Schliprüthen , Fehrenbrach and Dormecke were combined in the Schliprüthen parish chapel. Early clues about the size of the place can be found in an appraisal register (used to collect taxes) for the year 1543. According to this, there were six persons required to be appraised in “Dornbecke”; the number should have agreed with the farms or houses that existed at the time.

In 1975, Dormecke remained in the new municipality of Eslohe after the municipal reorganization in North Rhine-Westphalia. The Catholic Chapel of St. Anthony the Hermit was built in the 17th century. On December 11, 1985 the chapel was entered in the list of architectural monuments in Eslohe .
