Sallinghausen is a district of the community Eslohe (Sauerland) with 58 inhabitants in the North Rhine-Westphalian Hochsauerlandkreis .

geography

The place is about 1 km north of Eslohe in the nature park Sauerland-Rothaargebirge on the former railway line Finnentrop-Wennemen and the brook Salwey . The villages Eslohe, Wenholthausen and Sieperting border on Sallinghausen .

history

Sallinghausen, then Salinchusen, belonged in the 14th century with one hoof to the administrative districts of Hengstbeke and Lare of the Meschede monastery . In the treasury registers (used to collect taxes) of the 16th century for the Duchy of Westphalia , the place was recorded under the name Salwyckhuißen and Salwinghausen. The register from 1543 shows for the place (here spelling “Salwinckhaußen”) 5 persons subject to valuation (Henrich Matteweis, Thonis Nurck, Gert Molner, Dietherich Gockel and Dietherich Schelte); this number should have agreed with the courtyards or houses existing at that time.

In 1911, the Hellebrücke was built for rail traffic in order to bridge the section of the railway between Eslohe and Sallinghausen in the direction of Wenholthausen. The railway line was closed in 1966 for passenger traffic and in 1996 for freight traffic.

In 1975 Sallinghausen remained in the new municipality of Eslohe after the municipal reorganization in North Rhine-Westphalia. Grain was ground in the old mill until 1990. It was also used as a sawmill from 1721 to 1978. It has been used to generate electricity from 1911 until today. After a council decision by the Eslohe community, the cut in the Helle, on the railway line between Eslohe and Sallinghausen, began to be filled in 2013.

chapel

The old chapel of St. Antonius Einsiedel from 1647 stood next to the mill and the Sapp sawmill. After the demolition, the new building was inaugurated on May 27, 1954 at Mühlengraben after a year of construction.
