Oberlandenbeck is a village in the Sauerland . Today it is part of the Eslohe community in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The place is in the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge nature reserve . The Kränzgenbach, a tributary of the Esselbach, flows through Oberlandenbeck . Neighboring places are Cobbenrode , Henninghausen , Herscheid , Netherlandsbeck , Landenbeckerbruch , Keppel and Silberg . The place was on the prehistoric and medieval warrior path .

history

Early clues about the size of the place can be found in an appraisal register (used to collect taxes) for the year 1543. According to this, there were 5 persons obliged to appraise in “Ouernlangebeck” (the highest taxes were due to Theies Knacke and Hanß Becker); this number should have agreed with the courtyards or houses existing at that time.

Oberlandenbeck belonged to the municipality of Cobbenrode until the municipal reorganization in North Rhine-Westphalia. Since January 1st, 1975 Oberlandenbeck has been part of the new community Eslohe. 68 inhabitants live in the place.

In Oberlandenbeck is the listed Catholic chapel of the Three Kings . It was built in the 14th century and renovated in 1721. Oberlandenbeck belongs with Hengsbeck to the parish of the Visitation of Mary in Netherlandsbeck. The parish has 188 members.
