The Visitation of the Virgin Mary (Netherlandsbeck)
The Roman Catholic Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary is a church building that characterizes the locality in Netherlandsbeck , a district of Eslohe in the Hochsauerlandkreis ( North Rhine-Westphalia ). The parish belongs to the dean's office Hochsauerland-Mitte in the Archdiocese of Paderborn .
History and architecture
The building standing on a hill was built from 1932 to 1933 according to plans by the architect Wilhelm Dellweg. The walls of the elongated nave are plastered white, it is covered with slate. The three-sided choir has moved in and the tower is closed . The interior is determined by a five-sided wooden barrel vault . The nave and the choir are separated by a round triumphal arch . The choir room was originally painted figuratively according to designs by Brother Ludger Hohmann from Maria Laach. The paintings were whitewashed in 1954, instead there is a crucifix by Heinrich Püts. The front wall is divided by two glass pictures by Jupp Gesing; they were made in 1977.
