Lex Hives is the sixth studio album of the Swedish alternative rock - band The Hives . It was released in Germany on June 1, 2012 on the band's own label No Fun AB .
Creation and publication
For the first time in the band's history, Lex Hives was produced in-house and distributed via the band's own label. The recordings took place in various studios in Sweden, Germany and the USA. As with the album Veni Vidi Vicious , the band chose a partly Latin name, the title roughly translating to "Das Hivesche Gesetz" or "The Law of the Hives" . The album itself was released in Germany and Sweden on June 1, 2012.

In Sweden , the album reached number seven and was among the top 10. In Switzerland , the album came to number 20, in Germany to number 25 and in Austria and Australia to number 38. Further placements in the charts were achieved in France (number 47 ) and both parts of Belgium (126th place in Flanders , 135th place in Wallonia ).
reception
By critics , the album was perceived differently, but most reviews were positive. Metascore calculated an average of 69% based on 28 reviews and awards the title "generally favorable" (dt. "Generally positive" ). This makes Lex Hives the band's worst rated album to date.
Marcel Anders from 1 Live praises the album and believes that they have taken a good step back and Lex Hives is the band's best album so far. Anders describes the songs as "energetic, fresh, direct, vital and hymnal."
Radio Fritz awards a rating of four out of five possible stars and says that the album is still fun, but the band has lost the aggression that they have given songs like Walk Idiot Walk .
Mark Read from Plattentests.de gives the album seven out of ten points and writes that Lex Hives reminds of the album Veni Vidi Vicious , but you can still hear experiments. Only the single Go Right Ahead is convincing in his opinion.
The Rolling Stone , however, this losing of the opinion that although the album have energy at some points. As a rating, critic Chuck Eddy gives three out of five stars.
Sven Kabelitz from laut.de rates the album rather negatively and only awards two out of five stars. In his opinion, the songs are reminiscent of old times, but do not come close to them.
