The Esselbach is a 10.4 km long right tributary of the Salwey in the North Rhine-Westphalian Hochsauerlandkreis , Germany .
geography
According to the water station map of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Esselbach rises as Vossel about 2.2 km south of Cobbenrode on the northern flank of the 562.5 m high Herscheid about 800 m southwest of Herschede at an altitude of 499 m above sea level. NHN . According to the German basic map 1: 5000 , the course of the river below the confluence of the 1.2 km long Bremker Bach is then called Esselbach. Up to its confluence, the Vossel has a length of 1.9 km and is the longer source stream.
From its source the Esselbach flows mainly in northerly directions. He passes the towns of Cobbenrode , Isingheim , Bremscheid and Eslohe . At the northern outskirts of Eslohe the Esselbach flows out at 296 m above sea level. NHN on the right in the Salwey .
On its 10.4 km long path, the stream overcomes a height difference of 203 m, which corresponds to a mean bed gradient of 19.5 ‰. The brook drains a 26.633 km² catchment area via Salwey , Wenne , Ruhr and Rhine to the North Sea .
The stream is mostly in the Esselbach nature reserve and tributaries between Eslohe and Bremscheid .
