history

The noble Bremscheid house was originally owned by the von Esleben family. Through the marriage of Margaretha Philippine von Esleben to Johann Adam von Luerwald zu Suttrop, the Bremscheid house came into their possession. On May 12, 1687, Adams and Margaretha's granddaughter Anna Lucia von Luerwald married Caspar Lothar Theodor von Bönninghausen, the grandson of Lothar Dietrich Freiherr von Bönninghausen , an imperial field marshal lieutenant in the Thirty Years' War . From this time the Bremscheid house remained in the possession of the von Bönninghausen family until it was bought in 1815 by the rent master Wrede zu Ahausen. The latter sold the entire property. This is how the settlement between Bremscheid and Hengesbeck came about.

chapel

The Jacob's Chapel was consecrated on September 6, 1647 by Auxiliary Bishop Frick.
