history
The early medieval Lochtropgau (then "Locdrop") is named after the town of Lochtrop. In 997 he was Untergau of the Gaus Westphalia.
The appraisal register (used to collect taxes) from 1543 shows 3 taxpayers (Herman Ibidem, Konings Ibidem and Dietherich von Esleue) for the small town of "Lochtrop"; this number should have agreed with the houses and farms that existed at that time.
Lochtrop belonged to the Eslohe office . Lochtrop has been part of the new Eslohe community since January 1, 1975.
