Leckmart is a district of the community Eslohe (Sauerland) in the North Rhine-Westphalian Hochsauerlandkreis . The place is about 2 km south of Cobbenrode in the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge nature park . At the end of 2012 it had 38 residents.
Leckmart is named as the seat of the noble von Esleben family . Dietrich von Esleben zu Leckmart was born as the son of Johannes von Esleben, called Freiraf . Before the outbreak of the Thirty Years' War in 1612, he was appointed judge at Oedingen , which he held until his death in 1644. He was buried in Oedingen.
The first more precise information about the population and size of Leckmart can be found in the head treasure list from 1685 for the collection of the Turkish tax (war financing). According to this, five agricultural families (presumably to be equated with the number of houses) with a total of 23 people (including servants, maidservants, shepherds) lived in Leckmart at that time.
Before the municipal reorganization in 1969/1975, the small village belonged to the municipality of Oedingen in the Serkenrode district . The St. Stephen's Chapel in Leckmart was first mentioned in 1553.
