Büenfeld is a part of the community Eslohe in the North Rhine-Westphalian Hochsauerlandkreis . In mid-2016, the place had 49 residents.

geography

The village is located about 2.5 km north of Reiste in the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge Nature Park . Neighboring places are Büemke , Erflinghausen , Friedrichstal , Nichtinghausen , Reiste and Schüren . Road 914 leads through the village. The Büenfelder Siepen rises in the village.

history

In the 14th century, the hooves belonged to Büenfeld, then "Budenvelde" or "op dem Boydenvelde"; with the Fronhöfe to the inventory of the Meschede Monastery . Early clues about the size of the place can be found in an appraisal register (this was used to collect taxes) for the year 1543. According to this, there were three persons subject to appraisal in “Boenfeldt”; the number should have agreed with the farms or houses that existed at the time. The place belonged to the independent municipality Reiste in the Eslohe office until the end of 1974 .

Since January 1, 1975, Büenfeld has been part of the extended community of Eslohe. The listed chapel of the Visitation of Mary was registered on September 20, 1984 in the list of architectural monuments in Eslohe .
