The Bartholomäuskirche was one of the most important parish churches in the former imperial city of Speyer and was located near the Augustinian monastery on the street island between Gutenbergstrasse, Wormser Strasse and Luzerngasse.

history

The beginnings of the Bartholomäuskirche probably go back to the 12th century. When the city expanded further north, the Augustinian monastery was built next to St. Bartholomew . In the 14th century the church was rebuilt in the Gothic style and its Romanesque tower was crowned with a steep pointed spire . The church fell victim to the fire in Speyer in 1689. The church existed until around 1800 before it was demolished in the French Revolution . There are no remains of the Bartholomäuskirche.
