St. Bernward Chapel

St. Bernward is the Catholic chapel in Everode , a municipality in the Hildesheim district in Lower Saxony . It is named after the holy Bernward von Hildesheim and is located on the northern edge of the village, between St.-Bernward-Weg and Koppelweg. The chapel belongs to the parish of St. Marien , based in Alfeld , in the Deanery Alfeld-Detfurth of the Diocese of Hildesheim .

After the church in Everode had become Protestant through the Reformation , a Catholic chapel was set up in the forester's house as early as 1694. About a hundred years later this chapel was demolished again because it was in disrepair.

It was not until 1908 that Everode got a Catholic church again. On 25 October 1908, took place the consecration of today, in about 165 meters above sea level, located St. Bernward's Chapel by Bishop Adolf Bertram .

Since December 1, 2002, the chapel has belonged to the then newly founded Deanery Alfeld-Detfurth, previously it belonged to the Deanery Alfeld-Gronau. Since November 1st, 2006 the chapel has belonged to the parish of St. Marien in Alfeld, previously it belonged to the parish of Mary's Birth in the neighboring town of Winzenburg .
