The Roman Catholic Church of St. Blaise is located in Katzenbach , a district of in Lower Franconia nearby town Burkardroth and the hl. Blasius of Sebaste consecrated.

history

The first church in Katzenbach was built in 1714; The place got the wood for it from the forest of the prince-bishop, since Katzenbach did not have its own forest property. The church bell, which now hangs in the morgue, was also cast in 1714. The carver family Johann and Hans Georg Blenk from Bad Windsheim made the rococo- style high altar at the beginning of the 17th century , which possibly came to Katzenbach via the Frauenroth monastery .

When this first Katzenbach church turned out to be too small for the growing demands, a church building association was founded in 1912. Due to the global economic crisis of 1928 and the currency reform of 1948, it was not until 1956 that today's St. Saint Blaise consecrated St. Blasius Church . The church was financed almost exclusively by donations from the Katzenbach population; the inauguration took place on August 15, 1956 by Vicar General Dr. Fox. The high altar from the previous church building was transferred to the St. Blaise Church , but had to be dismantled when the new building was built because of its dimensions.

Below the altarpiece there is an antependium , which is painted on both the front and the back. The obverse depicts the Franconian apostles Kilian , Kolonat and Totnan , while the reverse, which can be seen during Lent, depicts the painful Mother of God .

Since 1962, together with a bell from the 14th century acquired by Waldfenster in 1927, the church has had a three-part peal with the tones c´´, es´´ and fis´´.
