St. Bonifatius (Heichelheim)
The Protestant village church of St. Bonifatius in the Heichelheim district of the city of Am Ettersberg in the Weimarer Land district in Thuringia is located on a small hill southeast of the village. The parish belongs to the parish association Großobringen in the parish of Weimar of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
history
The church was consecrated to St. Boniface around 1438 . Late Gothic baroque parts are visible in the building as well as the Gothic choir arch . In 1687 the first organ was mentioned, which existed until 1738. Between 1738 and 1742 the church got its present appearance. The second organ was built as a new building. The bells for triple peal were purchased in 1764.
In 1852 the third organ - again a new one - was used. In 1892 lightning severely damaged the church . The church tower was rebuilt. An extensive restoration took place in 1934. In 2013 the spire was renovated.
