history
The St. Bonifatius Hospital Lingen was founded in 1855 by Dechant Johannes Bernhard Diepenbrock with the support of the Mauritz Franciscan Order. The registered association St. Bonifatius Hospital Lingen was established by 1905 after drafting an association statute. Between 1975 and 1993 the company was expanded by taking over the management of the Maria Anna Hospital in Lengerich, today Maria Anna Haus Lengerich, as well as taking over the Elisabeth Hospital Emsbüren and reallocating it to a retirement and nursing home.
This was followed by the establishment of a specialist school for care for the elderly and participation in the outpatient care service of the Caritas social station in Lingen. In 2003, the hospital company was further expanded through a stake in the Sögel district hospital and the takeover of Emsländische Pflege gGmbH - geriatric and sick care in Emsland . Two years later, the St. Franziskus Academy of Education and Training was established in cooperation with St. Georg Stift eV Thuine.
In 2006 the Lingen Bonifatius Hospital was spun off into an independent gGmbH, two years later the associated new building with a new entrance hall and a new care and functional area was completed and inaugurated.
In 2009, Caritas Altenhilfe gGmbH was founded as the sponsor of today's senior citizens' and nursing homes, Mother Teresa House Lingen, Simeon House Lingen, Matthias House Lohne, Johannesstift Papenburg and Johannesstift Dörpen. The Mother Teresa House senior center in Lingen was also inaugurated. In 2010, the student project "Children's Laughter Helps Healing" began in cooperation with the Institute for Theater Education at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences . In the years that followed, the hospital company participated in Marien Krankenhaus GmbH, now Marien Hospital Papenburg / Aschendorf, and in Borromäus Hospital Leer. In the same year the name of the supporting company was changed from St. Bonifatius Hospital Lingen eV to St. Bonifatius Hospitalgesellschaft Lingen eV, which has been formulating its motto since 2014 as "connected to people".
