The Catholic Church of St. Cyriak in Obergimpern , a district of the large district town of Bad Rappenau in the Heilbronn district in northern Baden-Württemberg , was built in 1904 according to plans by Ludwig Maier . Before the construction of the Catholic Church, today's Evangelical Church served as a simultaneous church .

history

Under Pastor Wilhelm Both, who took office on October 15, 1894, the 700-strong Catholic congregation sold its share in what is now the Evangelical Church of Obergimpern, which was still used as a simultaneous church, in 1904 for 3,000 marks and left north build their own church in the castle garden in the center of the village. Both, a member of the anti-noise association in Munich , did not agree with either the location of the church or the low price for the share in the simultaneous church, but still saw one of his goals in Obergimpern being achieved with the construction of the church. The church was consecrated in 1907. The neo-Romanesque hall building has a roof turret.

Bells

The first bells of the church were cast by Benjamin Grüninger Sons in Villingen and consecrated in 1905. They had the beats as', c '' and es' 'and a total weight of 821 kg. Presumably all the bells had to be delivered during the First World War , as the community later acquired a three-part chill-cast iron bell from the Schilling & Lattermann foundry in Apolda. The bells had the chimes a ', cis'' and e '' and a total weight of 1100 kg. In 1951, one of the cast iron bells broke and was replaced by a bronze bell.

In 1953 the peal was replaced by three new bronze bells from the Friedrich Wilhelm Schilling foundry in Heidelberg. The guardian angel bell has the strike tone f '', a diameter of 58.5 cm and a weight of 138 kg. Their inscription reads HOLY GUARDIAN ANGEL, WATCH OVER US. Parish church Obergimpern 1953. The fourth bell was also added in 1953, the Joseph bell . It was also cast by Schilling in Heidelberg, has the strike note as '', a diameter of 49 cm and a weight of 82 kg. Her inscription reads HOLY JOSEPH, BURGE US ON A HAPPY DYE .

A fifth and sixth bell were added in 1984 and 1985, thanks to donations from Pastor Theophil Klumpp. The St. Cyriak bell from 1984, cast in Karlsruhe, had the strike tone f ', a diameter of 109.8 cm and a weight of 840 kg. Its inscription read OMNIA AD MAIOREM DEI GLORIA . The Maximilian Kolbe bell , also cast in Karlsruhe in 1985, has the strike note as', a diameter of 93 cm and a weight of 546 kg. Its inscription reads DEUS TE CONSERVET INCOLUMEM PAX CHRISTI IN CORDIBUS VESTRIS .

In the 1990s, the St. Cyriak bell , which was only a few years old, showed a crack, so that in 1997 it was exchanged for a new bell of the same name. This was cast in Karlsruhe, has a striking note f ', a diameter of 110 cm and a weight of 890 kg. Its inscription reads OMNIA AD MAIOREM ST. CYRIAKUS KATH.
