St. David's Lighthouse is a lighthouse ( English Lighthouse ) on Saint David's Iceland , the northeastern island of Bermuda . Along with Gibbs Hill Lighthouse, it is the smaller of only two lighthouses in this British overseas territory .
description
The 21.9 meter high tower and the outbuildings were built from local limestone from 1876 . The beacon went into operation on November 3, 1879. The octagonal tower stands on a hill in the northeast of Saint David's Island. It was originally painted white and was later given a red ribbon. The lighthouse can be visited daily from May to September.
The beacon has a fire height of around 65 m and shows two white flashes as identification with a return of 20 seconds (Fl (2) W.20s). The optics consist of a 2nd order Fresnel lens . A warning beacon is installed two meters below the lantern , which uses red and green sectors to warn of shallows .
