St. Elisabeth (Düsseldorf-Reisholz)
St. Elisabeth is a Catholic church in the Reisholz district of Düsseldorf .
The previous church was an emergency church by Caspar Clemens Pickel , which was built in 1907 on a piece of land that Industrie-Terrains Düsseldorf-Reisholz AG (IDR) donated to the Archdiocese of Cologne . In 1951 St. Elisabeth was elevated to a canonical parish. This church was soon no longer sufficient, so that in 1955 the current building was built by the architect Heinz Thoma . The dove falling from the sky on the facade was created by Zoltan Székessy . The new church was consecrated in October 1955. A new equipment took place in 1979.
St. Elisabeth is a spacious hall church with a rectangular floor plan made of brick with decorative concrete elements. On the side of the altar it is extended like a transept. The wide double tower facade facing the street is eye-catching . The gable wall between the rectangular towers is completely dissolved in concrete and glass fields. In front of her is a round baptistery, over which a bronze dove hovers.
