The Catholic Church of St. Georg and St. Wendelinus is a parish church in Trier in the district of Irsch an der Propstei .

History and architecture

The church goes back to a previous medieval building, of which only the Gothic church tower has remained. The nave was demolished in 1833 because it was dilapidated. The current nave was the former tithe barn of Irsch Castle and has been used in this form since 1834. The conversion of the tithe barn was carried out in the classicism style .

Furnishing

Most of the equipment was taken over from the previous building. The painting dates from 1903. In the church there is a largely preserved organ by Romanus Benedikt Nollet , which was originally built between 1763 and 1765 for the St. Antonius Church in Trier. After being repaired by Franz Heinrich Stumm in 1827, it came to Irsch in 1857 for 200 thalers and was renovated and installed here by Heinrich Voltmann . In 1861 the organ sounded for the first time in the Irsch parish church.
