St. Heinrich's needle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The St. Heinrichs Nadel is a private award that has been given since 1963 by the head of the former aristocratic house in Wettin . The name is based on the Military Order of St. Heinrich awarded until 1918 .

history

With the end of the Kingdom of Saxony in 1918 and the coming into force of the Weimar Constitution in 1919, the history of the Order of St. Heinrich, which had existed until then, ended until 1975. The St. Heinrichs Order is, true to its motto “Pro Pietate et Virtute”, committed to a Christian / Occidental action and life that is actively involved in the community and supports work aimed at sustainability. This maxim follows the admission of new members of the order. The number of order members is limited to 33.

St. Heinrich's needle of the Order of St. Heinrich

On December 31, 1963, on the occasion of the 70th birthday of Margrave Friedrich Christian, the "St. Heinrichs-Nadel" was donated as a "peace class" of the order. The St. Heinrichs Nadel can be awarded annually to selected personalities by the head of the House of Wettin. These include religious, economic, political, social and cultural merit. In any case, the award of the St. Heinrichs Nadel underpins the primacy of sustainability in action in a special way. The award can have a political statement; it is based on an order that stands for continuity in work and for the connectedness to proven values. The award of the St. Heinrichs Needle stands for “bravery” in social - that is, unifying - everyday life. The St. Heinrichs Order “confers” these awards in the literal sense, that is, they do not become the property of their bearer, but are returned to the order after the latter's death.
