Live and act

Hans Naumann was born as the son of Elfriede Charlotte von Heydenreich and the manor owner Herbert Naumann. In 1945 Naumann and his family and relatives were interned at Colditz Castle and later on the island of Rügen as a result of the communist expropriation. After his release in 1946, the family moved to Hamburg, where Hans Naumann studied mechanical engineering as a Dipl.-Ing. completed.

Naumann left Germany in 1960 to study business administration , which he completed with a “ Master of Business Administration ” degree in Rochester (New York) (USA). At the same time, Naumann worked as a design engineer at the Farrel-Birmingham Corporation in Rochester, and in 1963 was promoted to Division Engineer in the transmission department. In 1966 Naumann founded a company in Troy (Michigan) near Detroit, in which he accepted various German machine tool manufacturing companies.

In 1970 Naumann was appointed managing director and partner of Hegenscheidt GmbH, a machine tool manufacturer in Erkelenz . In 1982 he acquired the Simmons Machine Tool Corporation in the USA , the legal successor to the Niles company founded in 1833 .

In 1992 he founded NILES-SIMMONS Industrieanlagen GmbH in Chemnitz , which took over the local Niles lathe GmbH from the Treuhandanstalt and which in 1999 received the "Award of Corporate Excellence" from the US Department of State . He is a member of the board of trustees of the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology and the University Council of the TU Chemnitz.

Criticism was triggered by Naumann's interview with the Chemnitz Free Press in April 2017, in which he suggested calling up African-Americans for military service in order to teach them discipline. On their own, they would “not be compulsory” and “not even graduate from elementary school”. In addition, Donald Trump recognized that the “white population must stand together”. As a result, he was accused of racism and calls were made to remove him from the University Council of Chemnitz University of Technology.
