Parish Church of St. Hubertus

The Catholic parish church of St. Hubertus is a listed church building in Amecke , a district of Sundern in the Hochsauerlandkreis ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History and architecture

A first chapel was mentioned in 1522.

With the help of the von Wrede family, a new chapel was built in 1718. Their vicar served several times as the family tutor. In 1893 the parish was named a branch parish and in 1912 was elevated to a parish vicarie.

The chapel was extended in 1932 by Josef Ferber as a south-facing, plastered wall pillar hall, whereby the previous building was included as a transverse vestibule and a high central tower was built. The hall is vaulted with a pointed parabolic cell barrel . The west portal with split gable is adorned with the coats of arms of von Wrede and von Reck and marked 1718. In the course of time the equipment (organ, bells) was completed. Most of the interior was designed by Josef Ferber.

After a bomb hit, the roof was badly damaged in 1945 and later restored. The windows were made in 1959 by the German-Dutch artist Frans Griesenbrock .
