Frans Griesenbrock

Frans Griesenbrock (German name: Franz Wilhelm Griesenbrock ; born April 23, 1916 in Bochum ; † March 12, 2010 in Vaals , Netherlands ) was a German artist for Christian art who lives in the Netherlands .

Live and act

Born and raised in Germany, Griesenbrock completed his training as a painter at the Bochum decorating school P. Henke and at W Groschop in Essen . From 1935 to 1939 he studied art at the “Academie Beeldende Kunsten Maastricht ” and deepened his skills with the Swiss sculptor Pierre Blanc. He then lived and worked for a while in the city ​​of Luxembourg before studying at the Jan van after the Second World War Eyck Academie in Maastricht. He then moved to Vaals in the immediate vicinity of Aachen , where he spent the rest of his life and changed his name to the Dutch spelling.

Griesenbrock specialized in Christian art and was best known for its church paintings and lead glazing. His stained glass windows can be found in numerous churches and buildings in Germany and the Netherlands, but also in the synagogue of New York City and in San Marino near Rome .

For his life's work, Griesenbrock was made a knight of the Papal New Year's Eve in 1990.
