description

Former, now demolished St. Jakobus Church (2009)

The church was built from 2016 to 2019. The building consists mainly of exposed concrete , the church interior is laid out with slate tiles and underfloor heating. The altar is a boulder weighing almost two and a half tons from the Alps, designed by the artist couple Lutzenberger. The architect is Andreas Hlawaczek.

The organ of the former church with 14 registers and fully mechanical slide chests was built in 1976 by Guido Nenninger . The instrument was sold to the Protestant parish of Pöcking in 2013. In the newly built church there is a chest organ made by Munich Orgelbau Johannes Führer . The old organ had the following disposition :

I main work
Reed flute 8th'
Principal 4 ′
Schwiegel 2 ′
Sesquialter II 1 13
Mixture III 1 13
II subsidiary work
Covered 8th'
recorder 4 ′

Quint 1 13
Zimbel II 12

Steles symbolizing the Way of St. James are set up on the forecourt .

The previous church, consecrated in 1974, was demolished due to structural and fire protection deficiencies and replaced by the new building and a day-care center. The sculpture “Kreuzgerüst” by Karl Jakob Schwalbach (1998) was the “steeple” of the old, demolished church of St. Jakobus. It is still in its old location directly on Quiddestrasse, but now a good 50 m away from the new church.
