Building history and architecture
The church was built in the 14th century with two aisles in the late Gothic style. It lies southeast of the prince-bishop's Wewelsburg , in the area of the outer bailey , and was originally a castle chapel .
At the same time as the castle, it was completely renovated from 1599 to 1601. In 1884/85 the hall church was expanded and received a neo-Gothic interior. The altar and ambo are from 1984.
On the tower there is a coat of arms of Prince-Bishop Dietrich von Fürstenberg , which indicates the renovation around 1600. In the churchyard there is a memorial in memory of those who died in the First and Second World Wars .
