Filial church of St. John the Baptist in Gebelkofen (Parish Wolkering)

The John the Baptist ordained Catholic branch church of St. John Baptist in the Upper Village Road 1 in Gebelkofen (municipality Obertraubling ) in the district of Regensburg ( Bayern ) is a hall building with recessed choir and a two-storey sacristy with a hipped roof and gabled tower.

The year of construction of the church is not known but is definitely before 1608, because in 1608 Gebelkofen was detached from the parish of Obertraubling and assigned as a branch to the parish of Wolkering . In 1792/93 the choir and nave were rebuilt and the core of the Romanesque tower was raised. In the cemetery wall from the 18th / 19th centuries 17th century tombstones are embedded. Today's way of the cross dates from 1882 and replaced the previous way of the cross from 1853. The high altar structure around the altarpiece in the choir is only painted. In 1892 a renovation was carried out in which the church was furnished with paintings and decorations by the painter Goß. In 1914 the church got a new organ. Gravestones in the church indicate the von Lerchenfeld family . The three bells form a three-part TeDeum chime: g sharp'-h'-c sharp ". The large bell and the small bell were cast by Georg Hofweber (Regensburg) in 1956 and 1959, respectively, the middle peace bell is St. Johannes (h ') from 1982 by Rudolf Perner (Passau).
