The Roman Catholic Church of St. Johannes Baptist is a characteristic church building in Langenholthausen , a district of Balve in the Märkisches Kreis ( North Rhine-Westphalia ). The community belongs to the pastoral network of the Upper Hönnetal.

History and architecture

The previous church was built from 1877 to 1878 according to plans by the architect Gerhard August Fischer . The new church was built from 1962 to 1964 according to plans by Hans Luttermann. The building consists of a rectangular nave and a recessed rectangular choir . The tower is on the side. The building, which is covered with a gable roof, was subsequently clinkered. In the interior, a flat wooden ceiling with joists rests on protruding wall supports. At the back of the bright hall there is a gallery . The chancel was recently redesigned by Johannes Hillebrandt. The glazing of the narrow windows is the work of Wilhelm Rengshausen.
