Gerhard August Fischer
Gerhard August Fischer (born November 29, 1833 in Aplerbeck near Dortmund ; † November 11, 1906 in Barmen , today part of Wuppertal ) was a German architect .
Life
After an apprenticeship as a bricklayer and attending the trade school in Hagen , he joined the office of the city architect Eduard Bürkner in Barmen. He later moved to Christian Heyden's office after Unterbarmen . In 1857 he went on a seven-month hike through northern Germany and visited numerous Gothic buildings. In 1858 he worked as a mason foreman in Kassel for the architect Georg Gottlob Ungewitter . He later worked as a site manager in Gütersloh and passed his master mason examination in Bielefeld , after which he returned to Unterbarmen.
Among other things, he has been campaigning for the reconstruction of Burg Castle in Solingen since 1882 with a wealth of drawings, plans, drafts and his own excavations . From 1889 to 1902 he mainly devoted himself to this project.
His son Jacob Richard Fischer (1870–1928) continued his father's work.
