history

A chapel was built in Wetter as early as 1850. With the rise of the Spiro paper mill, the population increased, so the factory owner Ignaz Spiro commissioned the building of a church in Wetter, which he helped to finance. This was built from 1936 to 1938 according to plans by the architect Hans Foschum , this is his first church building. In terms of style, the church is designed in the homeland security style, combined with modern designs. The basilical nave building with two aisles has a striking church tower with an onion helmet. On July 3, 1938, the church was consecrated by Auxiliary Bishop Jan Remiger . In 1995 and 2008 the church was extensively restored.
